A rich golden liqueur, which goes by the name of Vestal Amber, truly embodies the unique values at Vestal - the things that separate them from the mass-produced spirits market.

Vestal stands for supporting traditional methods, the passing of knowledge from one generation to the next and the triumph of taste over quantity.

Produced using Vestal Rye Vodka combined with the syrup of hand-picked black elderberries, flowers and their stalks, Vestal Amber is produced at their distillery in Krzesk, Poland.

Located in the heart of the Podlasie region, it dates back to 1896 and sits in the heart of one of Europe's most unspoiled agricultural areas.

Vestal Amber is based on an old Polish recipe that was traditionally served as an accompaniment to deserts and given to couples as a mild aphrodisiac on their wedding night. This rich slightly sweet liqueur with a warming kick unlike most elderberry beverages uses every bit of the plant from the berries to the flowers and stalk. These are captured in stages as they fall throughout the season.

Combined with their double distilled Rye Vodka, the liqueur comes in at a pleasant 25% abv and is artfully packaged in hand-blown French glass bottles to highlight the beautiful golden hues. The intense and specialized production process involved means that Vestal produce just 5000 bottles per year.

So how to drink it? Vestal Amber is great straight, served at room temperature but is equally good with a cube of ice and some mint as an apéritif.

It also makes a wonderful base for longer drinks such as an Amber Bellini when served with Prosecco.

Mr V.V likes his Amber with Champagne - otherwise known at the Groucho Club as the Amber Willie, but he's also partial to a Turbo Twinnkle (Amber, Champagne and a splash of Vestal Rye). If however, he's feeling like being a purest, he opts for the Amber Summer Cup - a shot over ice, topped up with spring water and finished with a sprig of mint and squeeze of lime.
